Looking for some help.

I am looking to convert kuhn drill to be driven by hydraulic fan. Kuhn want £2200 which seems rather excessive!

Ive read the various discussions on here and contacted hydrokit as others suggested which have sent through this - anyone know which kit i should be buying as i haven't got a clue. thanks

Depends on if your tractor is going to supply the required flow and pressure or you need a separate pto hyd power unit. Then are you planning or direct drive the fan using a gear motor option C or a gear motor through a step down gear box option B or low speed high torque motor option A. Simple not. To many options but where here to help.

Tractor newholland T7.230, thought of direct drive but whatever is best really.
Thanks

Ok so I would go for option C as you will use the tractor spool option. This is the most common set up that I've seen but you will need to sort out which drive coupling you require. The only items I would add is the flow regulator valve. Yes I know you can set the required flow from the tractor but it gives you extra protection in case the tractor flow is in correctly set. Also make sure you have a check valve tee in between the inlet and outlet ports. This will allow oil flow to circulate once the flow is stoped from the tractor and prevents any internal damage to the motor.

practical reasons mainly. My 70+ father does all the drilling and often finds coupling up drill belts difficult following an accident a few years ago so would make life easier and quicker for him.

the drill also likes to take out belts which is not always spotted by operator🙈
Well he wont get on sny better with hyd fan
He will forget to switch it on
You have to switch off to lift drill
U will need a return hose to
Belts are pennies
Fan motors hundreds

Nah hydraulic miles better, although forgetting to turn it on is a valid point. Plenty oil in that tractor to run fan and lift drill and there should be a return on that tractor too,,benefit of hyd fan is no need to be at pto speed on engine all the time so in easy ground revs can drop back save tine wear and fuel handier at ins and outs too being able to drop revs

I have a drill addiction.
Have a 3m krm power harrow and drill combi, this has a gearbox off the power harrow gearbox to a pto shaft to the fan. Very simple and you don't forget to switch on, have had a new 90° gearbox on it.
No 2 is a 4m kuhn with a krm drill with a hydraulic fan driven off the tractor hydraulics. Had a lot of problems with this, I'm on the 3rd motor and I've broken 2 plastic spline couplers, think its all good now after 1 year of ownership.
No 3 4m freeflow, this has the hydraulic fan drive off the tractor pto to its own oil tank.
Never had a problem and would fit this to the 4m combi if I could be bothered. So simple and un complicated.

Your first No1 drill sounds like the best system.

the controller sounds if its not got fan running as it does when belt snaps so shouldn't be an issue. yes the rev benefit is part reason want to change.

I have been considering putting a hyd motor on my old accord drill. It's a 25mm shaft on the fan, so I would probably direct drive it with a gear motor and flexible coupling if possible. I'm just wondering, how have people sorted out a way of monitoring the fan speed, especially as my control box has no facility for this? I know you can buy various cheap amazon kits from China for shaft speed, but is there something a little more robust available?
I have an account with Hydrokit, has anyone gotten a motor kit from them, and what has it been like?
Thanks.
