looking at a LO85 max 5+1
How will a lo perform both onland and infurrow on 28 boards?
will it plough ok on land as a 5 furrow or will it be ‘too offset’ and constantly be pulling the plough to one side and making the tractor constantly fight? Only really having a +1 as it is slightly cheaper ordered new and will probably use it once we upgrade to bigger tractor
Thanks

We've got the same setup and pull a press, seems fine. Quite heavy compared to a LB. Ploughs on land no problem at a 5. If you are going to plough on land mainly consider no.8 bodies they pull a lot easier.

I would say that the 28 is worth having as they will firm the furrow a lot more even if your only on land, the twist in the body firms considerably more than the 8...and if you drop back in you’ll benefit again

Yeah 9's are good a bit taller than 8's but all three fit on the same frog I believe. We've got a T7.210 on the front which pulls plough and press fine but it is very heavy in comparison to the ld/lb.

thanks for that info, just looking to change my plough and no 28 would be best but tractor with 710's is on my ph/combi and really would only plough if something went wrong with 580 tractor

Hi, I’m not sure on the 9, but I’m pretty sure the 9 isn’t hardly any difference to the 8, and the 28 when bought out was stated as requiring 8% less draught, which makes sense, as I always think, it’s like a horse plough, a long gradual twist to invert, but it does roll the furrow over more, and of course clear the bottom of the furrow out. The biggest factor I’d say above that is that people say it travels so much firmer, (customer today said compared to his competitive plough) he has he’s a gear up with the combi drill. Yes, we do, nearly all go out on 28’s, a few no .30 slats, but I think I’ve sold 1 8 or 9 in the last 15 years...

28's are the best kv body for anything over 600 tyres in the furrow but are harder to pull because of the added friction. I've had all three bodies on the same tractor. Another bad point is the extra wait of the 28's. I like 28's but if your on land all the time your 9's would do a better job and save some diesel.

Can you stay ontop most of the time? I thought as soon as it gets greasy you’d have to drop in furrow? Also plough after Tates and beet so will definitely be in furrow some of the time as it’s so wet

You can generally stay on top. Dropping in the furrow is only really necessary if you can't physically pull it. If you can plough at a big angle of completely over wart you won't have a problem getting pulled into the furrow in wet going.
