If he wants lambs do you not think he would be better pay more for the local lambs? Still a world of lambs out there.

He’s a business man , he wants to know is it possible to get a supply from across the water. Not just for now but other times of the year when they are scarce here.

What you mean is he's looking for an alternative supply so he can screw down the price of locally supplied, much as slaughterhouses here do importing Irish cattle!

Thought you would have shown a bit of loyalty to your customers by promoting local produce, after all its the livestock sector your fencing and contracting business relies on for custom. There would be some roar out of you if a British contractor appeared beside you and started lifting grass for less.
No offence intended against the mainland sheep men here, just trying to make a point.

I’ve nothing to do with it , and I don’t agree with importing live lamb to Ireland to be killed here and sold as Irish lamb and that is what’s happening here at the minute . there is a huge amount of northern Irish lamb coming south at the minute to be killed . Only for the southern outlet northern farmers would have nowhere to go with lamb. Does anyone know of Scottish lamb crossing on the boat into the north for killing in the south.

So you have nothing to do with it and don't agree with it but you are trying to help with it and facilitate it?

Don't forgot about all the cattle and pigs that come north too for processing! Nothing wrong with all island trade. It works both ways.

Most of ours go to Dunbia in Wales which will be about 8 hrs. Anymore and youd be having bother with regs i.e. letting them off, drinkers onboard, etc. Add that onto the pile of red tape to send things to southern Ireland now. Don't know how that would work but if the money's right it should aye be considered.

If he puts his hand in his pocket deep enough he get all he need to fill a contract, if there was money to be made from Scottish lamb the rest would be doing it now.
There is lambs in the country, there is a demand for them, but a lack of out bidding to buy them, who's to blame if they can't get what they want.

Although from past experience other factories have found more money in just bring in the finished product and relabel it to suit.
