Large round bales

Hi all was considering getting a large round bale slicer can you all advise me if I open a bale of silage or haylage slice it for feeding to goats ,sheep and cattle how long before bale will go off Cheers

If it's clean and smells good when you open it, there will be a bit of heating after two days, and ideally it should be consumed within about 4 days.

Good dry haylage can last a bit longer.

if you slice half of it into a big silage bag and you suck air out with old vacume cleaner and seal the top will keep indefinitely for small flock

If you stand it up on it's end like this and go round and round it taking layers of it, it should keep for up to a week, maybe ten days, but in warmer weather it won't keep as long
