Well even more disgusting is that it was a common design where the outside toilet (they were all outside) was simply a seat with a hole that dropped down to the pig sty.
Not saying that it was a good idea and I wouldn't be eating the pig.
You would want to make sure it was plenty high enough up as if the old boar got hold of any thing swinging low it could be a bit of an eye watering job.

Stopped at a rest stop in China and all from the toilet went through the pigs next door. A neighbour of ours in UK had layers in a raised house and the pigs were housed underneath.

What a great idea, circular economy and all that.

Suit a sheep dairy where prolonged lambing season would be long enough to bring swine to slaughter weight.

I'm sure I've heard of a dairy farm in Florida that backs onto the Everglades that has a slipway into the swamp where they leave fallen stock for the alligators! They have to make sure to fasten the gate behind them, otherwise they might have a surprise fetching the cows in for milking!!

The old gamekeepers used to put a sheep carcass hanging from a tree over their best pool , so as the maggots dropped they would feed the fish.

be 50 year ago when young kids . a neighbour lost one of his pony’s he dragged it into his sow yard , and what bones where left went on bonfire . and had some porkers drop through wire mesh mucking area into tank , and drowned , they fished them out , hung them up guts out and steamed them off then put them through mincer into sausages and through shop 🙈

I went to see some pups bred by a gamekeeper that were sired by one of my dogs. He was busy so he told me to go to the kennel and have a look at them and tell him what I thought. Well, I went to the kennel, with a big grass run, but all I could see was a dead horse. So I went back to the keeper and told him that the pups must have got out.

We went back to the grass run together when he gave a whistle. Eight happy and bloody pups emerged from the horse's backside. A pretty good labour saving idea I thought and the pups obviously did well on it.

When I was in Australia they'd throw a sheep leg in a dam wait a while then pull it out with the yabbies attached. The older the leg the better apparently. I don't think I'd eat them now.
I would.
Just waiting for some traps I ordered to arrive as sheeps legs are not as readily available as they used to be.

The Huntsmans wife of the North Staffs hunt used to keep whippets many moons ago. Beautiful, dainty, show quality whippets....that were usually found hanging off whatever manky bit of flesh they could find to steal from the flesh house. They spent a lot of their time red or green from thieving 😂

I don’t think this method was ever proposed on the how to move a dead horse thread

I've heard of a similar dietary regime for greyhound pups reared in Ireland.

Can`t be doing with ill-informed animal rights types, etc, but the OP totally disgusts me with that horrific question - I expect this forum can be seen by non-farmers as well as farmers and TBH apart from it being a totally disgusting question, surely peddling sh*te like that on here is what I would describe as a 100% disaster PR job for British Farming .
I reckon to be a practical farmer (done nowt else since I could walk, over 60 years) but I`ve got to say this thread just disgusts me:mad:
