Lexion 430 Questions

Just bought a 430, it's got the Merc in it and just wondering what the engine rpm should be for both throttle positions?

Also, it has auto-contour and everytime the header is turned on it tilts down left side. Does that mean it needs bleed or is it possibly something else?

Cant remember the engine revs I had 2 one with a cat and the other merc. Possibly about 2200 running and 1000 at idle

Auto contour 1st thing to look at is rodent damage in the header I would put 10p on that being the problem. If you end up having to rewire much run new cables through blue water pipe they are not as keen on that. It could be a sensor on either end and check the bands that hang down under the header are not worn out or sticking up, this will happen if its been on stony ground and the shaft they swing on has got bent.

Auto-contour could just be something as simple as it needing recalibrating or worn sensor bands under the header. Most of the time I had an issue with it on the 460 a few years back it was one of those two causing it especially the bands being on abrasive soils back then.

The Rat Motel box-section across the back of the header may well yield the explanation. Failing that damaged wiring at the sensors or dicky plugs, seized linkage etc.
Mine will play up occasionally on steeper side slopes, and keep disconnecting AC.

Thankyou for the replies, I will have a look over the wiring on the header.

One more thing, When starting the header I get a feed rake slip warning and I can't get it to speed up over about 360rpm. Nothing appears to be slipping though, any ideas?

We had a 440 and I’m sure there is an inline tap for the autocontour rams, there is a procedure for bleeding/resetting them but I can’t quite remember, also as mentioned, you can re calibrate in the screen.
The speed sensor might be picking up a fluctuating speed due to a bearing gone on the end with the sensor.

Ball tap nearside, at header end of feederhouse. Can't remember exactly here, but basically close valve and manually work header tilt left and right a time or two until whilst one tilt ram fully closed the other is fully extended. Then reopen valve and rams equally extended half way.

I had similar and replaced the valve on the feederhouse. I was lucky to stumble on a second hand one
I’ve got a brand new spare tap/valve for the levelling rams, and one or two other new parts for Lexion of that era, a genuine stop solenoid and air filter for a 440. Should anyone be interested.

What's is the purpose of the switch on the back of the joystick on the early lexion? Console has a rocker switch to manually level cutterbar, is the joystick switch also meant to do that?

The trigger switch on my 480 was fir the unloader auger if I remember correctly. On the 500 series it’s for leveling the header and in the rocker switch on the right is switched over it becomes the vario adjustment or it will raise a flex head knife bar up to become a ridged header.
