I was looking at putting in my own liquid fertilizer storage as want the ability to shop around and not be held to ransom by some merchants. Tank or lagoon I presume are the options. Currently use approx 200k litres. Anybody have experience of costs and whether it pays?

2 years ago we bought a 70,000 litre tank off eBay for £1000. Collection with crane and delivery and then drop off was £450. The tank cane with two stands but we had two more made up which was £300. We laid a concrete pad 10m x 5m x 200mm which cost us £1,000 including ground work. Then we blocked up around the pad which cost us a brick layer for a day £150 and then blocks themselves which I can't recall what they were but around £2,000 to set up.

no such thing as "free" tanks ! we own all our tanks and yes it pays

I bought some new vertical fibre glass tanks that cost about 5k for 50m3 each and also bought some 150k glass lined steel tanks form an add on here for £1500

if you get steel it MUST be glass lined

Thanks for the replies. Where did you get your fibre glass tank from @Clive?

Yara use about three different suppliers. EB may or may not supply now due to some failures around the hatches. They have I think altered the design but I wouldn't have another EB on the place. Cam plans look a lot better.

The EB tanks are OK, but use of sulphur ferts seems to make it difficult to see contents level. This makes overfilling a bigger risk.

Why ? We have 2 old railway tankers and another 50000l tank ,all with no glass lining ? Very little rust in them you would be supprised

when ever we have used none lined containers we got a lot of blocked nozzles, one less thing to have to think about with glass tanks

also its fine to leave a glass tank empty but so such a great idea with a none lined steel one

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
