Listeriosis (sheep)

How are they looking today?
Spent ages studying them. Still doing a bit the same. All fine in themselves generally it seems moving about, all eating etc. - eyes fine, ears - some look a bit flat but nothing drastic?, no drooling from mouth (read somewhere that's a sign?), one a bit snotty. Seemed quite quick breathing but may have been overlooking/studying too hard looking for problems and they had just been run into a pen. Same sort of behaviour but not as extreme as the previous day. I'm reluctant to start chucking around medicine if its nothing, partly for withdrawal, so will see how they go. Obviously if I notice anything worse then I will have to take a course of action and if one drops, look at getting a pm. I'm hoping its what @Big Al and others have said since the weather suddenly got warmer. It's just easy to spot a change in behaviour and there's usually something with sheep in my fairly short experience (n) I guess I just didn't expect it with them being in and this time of year.

You've noticed something is different and it almost certainly is. It doesn't always have to be the worst though. If in doubt always ask for a professional opinion.

If it's less extreme than yesterday that would be a good sign to me. Sheep usually die rather than get better on their own.

Same here, had success with big and regular doses of Alamycin. I gave mine the LA version daily for a few days, then every 48 hours. The ewe was in a hell of a state, couldn't believe she recovered and went on to have nice doubles. Kept her penned up, best hay, feed, drenched her with water, the works etc etc.

I had a very similar experience with combivit and alamycin. She rallied to the point of grazing and drinking on her own, then went down hill and was PTS after 5 days of treatment.

I can't remember, but think it was 10ml for 65-70kg ewe.
