Used to have a Grays good strong heavy loaders! One Saturday afternoon when dad was playing football I was about 12 topping stopped for a ice cream or something comeback tractor wasn’t there! It had run off through a fence, across a ditch and down over a steep field came to rest in a wet spot. It bent the loader frame:oops: (should of had it done on insurance!) and other loader I’m sure would of fallen apart!

Went on to work daily for 15 years, retirement for a few and got rid this year.

I love this, well done. In 2.5 years i have failed to even get a headstock on my 40 year old existing loader, so congrats.

Haha, I took a week out and just cracked the worse of it out. It was a ball ache some of the time but it’s turned out well now. Just need to make a remote mount and also add 3rd service eventually.

I see the bend. [emoji23] shows how strong they are. It’s a giant of a thing on that case isn’t it. Was it dealer fitted? I tried avoiding it sitting so high on mine. Managed to cut the brackets lower to it sits at bonnet height. Lucky the loader is the right size for the tractor. More luck than judgment.

Yes too big really was always cocking it’s leg 100 odd horse 6cyl would of been ideal.

Bought it 18 months old with loader, yes not until seen your handy work never thought much about its height.

Making a good job of it!(y)

I was wondering where you'd find the time. Jealous, unfortunately the style of business here (small scale, end-to-end) means that there's no chance of stretches of time off for me. The best i get right now is all of tuesday and half of wednesday and bits and pieces around the other days. Makes starting anything really difficult.

Not sure how to answer about finding time. The last 4 years have taught me some very harsh lessons on what is and isn’t important. I have found out the hardest way. So now I make decision based on that. I make the time available as looking back in 10 years realising that all you’ve done is work and not lived will be to late. I know earning money is an issue and bills keep coming in but do find time for your self. If you get a day and a half a week then plan to do specific jobs. Even for half of that time. Plan what you’ll need so it’s in ready for the next week. All I can say is live life as every thing could be taken away tomorrow. Sorry for being a bit deep.

The loader has surprised me to be honest just how well it sits. I’m really chuffed with it. Need to make the brace that goes under the tractor and put the axle brackets on but they will wait until after hay. Oh and headstock and rams. Lucky I’ve been given an old trima loader so I’ll steel the rams off that to finish this off I think. need to paint the wheels, loader when finished off and rear arches then she is pretty well done all bar improvements I like making like 1 piece bonnet and new side exhaust which I e nearly mocked up. Well yeah i guess i get all that. It's early days for us so we're still trying to find our way. And not all my hours are work, some are babysitting my baby girl.

As standard the loader need to sit high to stop the wheels fouling, got brackets here somewhere to fit jd 6610

Thanks, the geometry wasn’t so much a problem. Height of the tractor brackets and width was the main issues along with drilling the main pick up point for the brackets to fit the tractor. I cut the loader in half to make it 4” wider to made new loader brackets. I cheated by copying a friends loader there so geo was already done for me. put a pic or two up of yours. Always like seeing engineering triumphs especially where you’re told it’s not possible.

Threw a few lot of pics into the not quite engineering thread https://thefarmingforum.co.uk/index...-or-a-quick-bodge.120208/page-33#post-5192260

Hey guys,

Had to disconnect the loader as the spool block was leaking oil like no body’s business. I think the 2 pipes over loaded it some what. Am now trying to work out a plan to re instate it. Dam hydraulics.

Use a spool outlet at the back to power your new loader spool valve, for now.
That way you can turn it off when not in use.
Drop tray under the spool until you get a chance to repair the leak.

I have bypassed it for now. Linked up the in and out pipes so I can carry on with hay. Back to some testing when I get it back to mine.

Was it heating up at all? This would point to a restriction. After all it has to cooe with full flow of the pump to feed other services. Still thinks it needs a dump line and the PRV cheched or re set

Oil wasn’t getting hotter than any other time. Block was leaking due to non loading valve that should be in there but turns out isn’t. That’s why the 3 pipe system isn’t working.

so inside the port on the right should be no 8 and that’s what allows the side port to produce pressure to the back end and not just dump all the time. That little valve allow the loader to dump when required and also pressure when required. So long and short of it is, it should be a 3 pipe system as it’s open centre, it can’t be run as a 2 pipe system but requires no 8 to allow it to work properly.

If you do any roadwork then find a hydraulic accumulator / shock absorber. They're ace.

I just T'eed this in to test if bottle was right size and it will do!

Will just T’ing it in to the lift ram circuit do it? As simple as that? What’s the cylinder you have there? Don’t do much road work but well worth having.
