You could say the arable man has been subsidising the livestock
sector most years .

Last year barley off the combine £110 which must be close to C.O.P.

I dont begrudge them a penny for straw .

Know of any cheap cows for sale?:sneaky:

What do power stations pay per ton ?

Power station straw not the same. Take it damper. Less fussy. No need to turn the bits the combine has run over. No whining. Constant demand. Much easier to deal with, hence lower price. Animal straw is hence at a premium. Similar to how you need a premium (danger money) to send wheat to one mill over another. On paper the same wheat but in reality not.

Hehe. We won't be sending any to the power station. Just saying that they are typically easier to deal with in terms of getting on and baling. This year is easy with dry straw etc but there is a difference between straw for the power stations and stock men in terms of quality. I'd normally expect to have to at least turn the end rows and leave it down two or three days if going for bedding.
