Logic or Chapman snacker for feeding sheep?

Having decided on an electric style snacker can anyone advise on which is better?

So far for the basic model of each I have been quoted £1,700 for the Logic, which has a 1 year warranty or £1,600 for the Chapman, which has a 2 yr warranty. The Chapman electric box looks to be marginally better than the Logic one but in all other ways they look remarkably similar.

I have a logic weedwiper that has a pretty lame control box but works ok and a Chapman bale trailer which is well enough put together bar the failure of the winch, which Chapman replaced under warranty.
Thanks for your help 👍

I recently went through the same and ended up buying the Chapman. No regrets after a few uses, feels solid and the controller is spot on. The plates around the bottom of the snacker (below the hopper) are thicker steel than the folded stuff on the Logic. Only downside I can think of is there’s no option for a metal top, but could have one fabricated I suppose.

Sounds like you’re set on electric but the best manual one I think must go to the Swaledale, we’ve the small version at home and it’s still like new after 5 years. The Chapman at £1600 was worth the extra £500 for convenience of the electric counter and compatibility with potential future buggy!

Most importantly, the Chapman comes
predrilled for a towball so you can follow it with trailer or whatever takes your fancy!

Fantastic, thanks for your replies everyone, much appreciated.

Good to know there's holes for a tow ball on the Chapman. Based on the published weights it seems that the Chapman is around 15Kg heavier than the Logic, which is probably a good thing the way I drive!

I suppose my only slight reservation about the Chapman is that they appear to have pinched the design from Logic or have snackers been around for ever?

Had the logic since 2002/2003. Currently doing 100kg/day but when I was doing a lot with it I’d feed 450 ewes in 4 groups in under 20 minutes. Only ever had 1 motor go after 10 years and that had done a serious amount of static opening - 3 people chucking in ingredients at a time and then rebagging as it came out

Got a Quad X fert spreader for the bike. Works just about OK but the less said about the build quality the better!
