Looking for work

Hi,

Wasnt quite sure where was best to put this, aware there is a jobs section but seemed to be less active and thought i may as well got to the source more directly as it were.

Im a vet student studying at the university of Nottingham, with a strong interest in farm work. I am looking for some part time work to fit alongside my studies, partly to earn some money but mainly because I'm spending too much time sat around indoors for my liking.

I have previous experience working with dairy cattle, goats and sheep, in addition to lambing experience as well. I have experience foot trimming, and am a RoMS accredited mobility scorer in addition. I can provide references on request.

I'm happy getting up early, and in fact this would likely suit me better to fit around my studies, and would also happily work weekends.

i'm based in kegworth (DE74). If this is of interest to you, please feel free to email me on [email protected], or give me a ring or text on 07786331944.

Thank you in advance for your time

(P.S. If you have any suggestions of other ways that would be good to look for this type of work id be most greatful)

thank you for the hint, I did attempt to get into contact with the above but never heard back after a couple of exchanges.

I was hoping for your guy's feedback on the best way of looking for something like this. Obviously there are forums like this to post on, and I'd also considered printing out copies of my CV and cover letter and dropping it off at farms in the area?

I completely appreciate how busy you guys can get, and any pointers/advice would be well appreciated

A lot of dairy farms within striking range of you would supply either Arla (Tuxford and Tebutts at Melton) or Long Clawson Dairy. Try a direct approach to the milk buyers and ask if they will circulate your CV or a letter to their producers. Send an email so it can be sent round electronically. Or approach the large animal vets in the area - eg Scarsdale, Rutland Vets, and see if they could do the same (or they might even have some part time vet tech work for you on locomotion scoring, helping with TB testing or similar).

Have you taken any land out of production from last autumn?
