homegrown food a shortage of ? makes a complete mockery of the cries from above of producing more from our small , crowded and if them who know say population will grow by aleast 4 million extra mouths to feed, food banks ? food banks ?

I have just heard on the radio about a huge amount of apples, raspberries and other fruit going to waste because of lack of pickers and brexit is blamed
Why wouldn’t it be blamed ?
Sterling has tanked making us less attractive as a destination
The country is more hostile to immigrants
And immigrant rights after a potential hard brexit were not guaranteed.

Probably the same with all tabloid articles, there is an element of truth in there somewhere but most of it is a load of made up rubbish written as sensational as possible.

There is definitely a shortage of pickers, there always has been and there is definitely a reduction of EU migrants to do the work.

brexit hasn’t happened yet or did I miss something ?

No surprise it’s being blamed - it’s the default reason for anything bad these sats

Wow and remainers are accused of being narrow minded. Look at the sats I love them they rarely lie. They show a drop off of seasonal labour since the referendum. Whether it’s sterling, uncertainty or racism I know not but the figures are there.

It's been a sh!t year for fruit all round this year, too wet and quality and amounts available to be picked so no one would want to pick it at piece rate when other work like Cauli/Cabbage planting or Potato work pays better.
There were labour shortages for this type of work two years before the referendum, what were they blaming then ?
