How’s the grass growing now everybody? I think we may have reached magic day, only a month late!
We’ve had 300 cows on 90 acres in May in years gone by, the cows are still grazing 200 at the moment!
I assume like last year the grass will compensate, please tell me I’m right, old sages on here!

I don't expect to get back what we have lost here due to the cold weather. I think we will have lost about 0.8 t/drymatter per hectare.
One of my discussion group members has 300 cows on a 100 acre platform and was predicting 'Tragic' day about 4 weeks ago when he would have completely run out of grass!

I've got 140 cows on 75 acres and have managed ok until this past weekend when the grass exploded into green mush overnight. So we are about three weeks late.
When did you turn them out to be able to manage?

Were are finally growing significantly more than demand. A wet weekend will bopfully secure 3 weeks decent growth for us.

Milk bombed a lot 10 days ago, fed more cake and forage, but couldn't hold it. Now its up to previous levels. Amazing how a cow 260dim can pick back up so quickly.

Growing away nicely here, actually ahead of last year now, we need to be I’ve used all my carry over silage, the oldest was 9 years old out of the back of a clamp, hopefully no 2.5t/acre first cuts this time.

Ha ha, you caught me out. 27th of Feb the milking cows went out, there were only 60 at the time. They did come back in for a week in early March and good Friday they went out at night. We calved 90 since the end of March to bring us to the current number. We were feeding silage until 3 weeks ago and probably too much cake.
