Manitou MLT 629 2003 - transmission alarm help

Manitou MLT 629 2003 telehandler.
Currently have transmission oil pressure lamp on and on checking oil level find it is full but there is black oil contamination showing on dip stick.
I only ever use correct transmission oil which is fine and clear so can anyone anyone suggest cause if this contamination and what other symptoms I should look out for that would relate to this problem as I am no machinery expert.
I do notice two things - machine slow to move off from standstill when cold (as if excellerstir not working) and boom slow to extend and retract when moving dung onto dung heap. I don’t know if these are related problems to transmission or separate issues?

Firstly correct transmission oil is bright Red in colour, ATF Dexron 2 or ideally 3 is what's needed. There are other oil specs that will work just fine and are clear but there not the genuine manitou spec.

Oil level wants checking just after it's been run and dipped a couple times to be sure.

Discoloured oil will be burnt and or clutch pack material, so it will want removing an a transmission overhaul.

Boom issue is something else, fault may depend on the model spec.

transmission overhaul - awch! that sounds like major/expensive work? - I thought I was told there was no clutch on my Manitou when I had to have 90degree prop shaft replaced with modified part a few years ago??? But like I say I am no expert

At least 2 wet clutch packs, if it's a power shift then theres 6.
