We have a 2008 Massey 6480 and the front suspension doesn't seem to bounce anymore, but it does go up and down when you turn it on and off on the switch in the cab. I am guessing this is the accumulator, how difficult are these to change?

Easy enough to change, just put suspension into off position, let it go fully down and click off. Will be roughly about a litre of oil come out, I usually wind it off slowly on the treads to let an excess pressure out, then remove and refit new one. Might just need regassing?

Just check its definitely not working i thought mine was getting stiff then recently on baler you could see it working perfectly as baler was running and tractors had hand brake on.

Well usually if it's losing gas it will need a new accumulator, no?

Not unless it lost gas suddenly. Typical for them to lose gas charge pressure over course of several years or several thousand hours. Most manufacturers recommend having them recharged every 2k hours or so.
Interesting, there's lots of accumulators on modern tractors, wouldn't seem right to have to gas them all every 2k hours. Had a brake pressure accumulator die recently, was temporarily recharged and was then replaced.

This ones 16 years old and done 5000 hours so maybe best just to swap a new one onto it.

do you have 1 or 2 accumulators?
if 2 the small 1 is 10 bar the larger 50bar

There is only one accumulator on it from what I can see.

I'm pretty certain its not working it doesn't move with two round bales on the loader
