This microswitch inside the joystick is stuck on, which isn't idle, but everything works fine. 20221129_092634.jpg
I cannibalised my spare joystick last time, but can't source another.
Does anyone know of any?.
DK can replace one into the joystick, but that's taking the machine out of service, which has its difficulties.

Looks like it’s just a standard microswitch with a lever,it’s the circular disc that’s going to be hard to find.

Or if you want the exact same switch mechanism there is this one but the case is riveted and, in my opinion, not as good a switch as the Crouzet.

Thanks all.
I'll try a Crouzet and if the lever doesn't swap over, I'll get an original when that ebay chap returns.

If I knew someone with a mini spot welder, life would be easy.

Not anywhere near as cheap as the ebay one but readliy available on nextday DHL.

Dont bypass it becuase you will be powering up the solenoids on the spool block all the time and they really dont like that and normally overheat and set themselves on fire, hense why you used to see alot of old matbros with fire damage around the spool blocks but if was put outearly the rest of the machine would be untouched.

The flat battery the next day is how I discovered the switch was at fault.

nothing to do with it, that switch is off the switched ignition feed so unless you left the ignition on which would flatten it anyway then the flat battery and this mirco switch problem are related to each other.

It's on a TR3, with no seat switch and whether it's correct or not, it's live power to it all the time.(
I've had the machine 24 years and swapped to a 4 button joystick 20 years ago and until the microswitch stuck on last week, I've had no trouble.
Once I'd diagnosed the joystick was the draw, I put a temp switch inline to test and all good.
But not if I forgot and left switch on.(it's now switched via the ignition)
Battery is brand new, as I changed it, thinking it had failed and promptly flatten that one.

rig up a switched ignition feed to it, you cant have it powered up all the time even if the switch works, your lucky it didnt set on fire over night IMO when switch failed.

Crouzet switch arrived and yes it's a better actuation and it slightly wipes the contacts each time.
I might try soldering a disc on the lever, but not sure the solder will tolerate the repeated action.
So I'm going to order a couple of the exact match off ebay and direct swap the levers.
I tensioned the bottom contact in the direction of the arrow and its now snapping in both directions again

Bugger.
Good man, once you are inside them it's not rocket science. You just need a clean work area/floor for when the wee b@$t@rds decide to launch parts into orbit.
I would nearly have a go at removing the arm from the new one and welding a mudguard washer onto it with a spot in the centre from the MIG.
