I use home and dry alkagrain, (practically same product in the end?) and feed it on its own with minerals onto grass silage and maize. Fattens our cattle anyway! Can’t get any bi-products my way, too far from the factoriesWhat do people mix with maxammon barley too make good fattening ration?
Do you feed it adlib or do you feed rationed amount?I use home and dry alkagrain, (practically same product in the end?) and feed it on its own with minerals onto grass silage and maize. Fattens our cattle anyway! Can’t get any bi-products my way, too far from the factories
Iv just priced some up.
10tonne maximum £205
10tonne rolled barley £150
I don’t think it’s worth a extra £55
Rationed amount once a day on top of silageDo you feed it adlib or do you feed rationed amount?
7kg?Rationed amount once a day on top of silage
Around 5kg normally onto grass and maize7kg?
Depending on tonnage £8-£12 tonne. How much is it for contractor/lorry to come in and roll barley and add Maxammon
Presumably that is for doing the job, how much in addition is the Maxammon ?Nearer £14/16

By how much does the Maxammon r@ise the protein level of the grain when treated ?
Thanks MGH
Do you feed that whole or milled to lambs? The Home’n’Dry product (which is essentially the same) raises CP in the treated Barley to around 15%, with the product required to treat it costing £25-30/t iirc. You can add more to increase the protein further.
I don't know About cattle, but it makes a great (& safe) ad-lib lamb finishing ration, with the addition of minerals.

Yes just wondering because we process it for cattle, thought maybe we could add a little to finishing lambs or in lambersWhole. There’s no need to process grains for sheep, which helps slow digestion.
