What do people mix with maxammon barley too make good fattening ration?
I use home and dry alkagrain, (practically same product in the end?) and feed it on its own with minerals onto grass silage and maize. Fattens our cattle anyway! Can’t get any bi-products my way, too far from the factories

Iv just priced some up.
10tonne maximum £205
10tonne rolled barley £150
I don’t think it’s worth a extra £55

Easy enough to make your own. Buy in the rolled barley, mix the pellets with it (c.£30/treated t), sheet for a fortnight and away you go. Surely the protein lift and pH buffering is worth £30?

Presumably that is for doing the job, how much in addition is the Maxammon ?
By how much does the Maxammon r@ise the protein level of the grain when treated ?
Thanks MGH

The Home’n’Dry product (which is essentially the same) raises CP in the treated Barley to around 15%, with the product required to treat it costing £25-30/t iirc. You can add more to increase the protein further.

I don't know About cattle, but it makes a great (& safe) ad-lib lamb finishing ration, with the addition of minerals.

Do you feed that whole or milled to lambs?

Maxammon Results 2019.jpg

Grain treated this year straight off the combine. A little wetter than I would have liked but the weather didn't play ball. Got a good reaction between the products and the results are very pleasing. This was treated with 25kgs urea rather than the standard 15kgs.
