If its an early one (04) the clutch may be fierce still, but the xtrashift should be smooth.Nasty clutch uptake and jumpy xtrashift, if fitted, but maybe those things would have been sorted by now too?
An xtrashift transmission has a clutchless shuttle and 3 speed powershift, the syncro transmission (standard gearbox so to speak) has a syncro shuttle which you need to use the clutch pedal to change direction and has either no powershifts or just a two speed powershift. Can someone explain the difference between the xtra shift and standard gearbox.
How do I tell if it hasn't a power shift?. Buttons on gearstick? An xtrashift transmission has a clutchless shuttle and 3 speed powershift, the syncro transmission (standard gearbox so to speak) has a syncro shuttle which you need to use the clutch pedal to change direction and has either no powershifts or just a two speed powershift.
The syncro transmission has a dry clutch and could need replacing every 2000 to 3000 hours if on loader work, subject to operator.
The xtrashift transmission has hydraulic clutch packs that could happily last 6000 + hours without an overhaul but when they do need work it's alot bigger job than a standard clutch repair.
The xtrashift transmissions clutch pedal is electronically controlled so its operation makes for a different feel to a standard clutch and can sometimes make drive take up harsh or a bit unpredictable, Also it can only be calibrated / tweaked via a dealer laptop.
Hope that all makes sence.
Woupd the older 4210 case be better? The xtrashit has a shuttle stalk(electric switch) on the steering column and a 3 position switch on the main gear lever. The manual version has a big lever coming up out of the dash. If it has a two speed splitter,it'll have a 2 position switch on the main gear lever as well.(Same ''quality'' system IH and CIH used for years,as in Torque Amplifier)
Still better with a Zetor instead...
