Hello,

I have bought a mchale 991b a week ago and the cut and tie isnt working right.

When you press the lever it will put the presure on to close the cut and hold system however the wrapper wont allow the cut and hold system to open.

I have took a pipe off and when the pipe was off i was able to push the ram back but when the pipe is on she isnt allowing it to go back.

This is the system which has the accumualator type bottle on it and one pipe going to it

I think by memory you have to bleed it, but can,t for the life of me remember how to do it, you have to swap pipes or something like that.

post a pic.
On the old ones theres a blanking plug. the back non pressure side of the ram is a self contained system. It needs to be full of oil so when the other side is pressured, it forces the oil into the accumulator. The accumulator wont do anything unless oil is forced into it.
new system may be self filling or something

Busy with baling and only seeing these messages now. Its a old wrapper 1995 i think. I did notice a blanking plate however. ill try get pictures if i gt time to go to wrapper today. Do i have to run a second pipe to pressurise the system or can i take the other cut and tie pipe off and into the blank location to pressureise it?

I tried putting the page from the manual on here for you but the link doesn't work. Have a look on manualslib and it will show the process. The website works as well as the app

Just take the existing pipe off and pressurise it through where the blank is,if it doesn’t work you will need a new accumulator.

Thanks everyone, I only got around to looking at the wrapper yesterday and i took the pipe of the cut and tie and put it to the accumulator (circled in pic). Filled this and changed pipe back to original place and the cut and Tie worked perfect. Very simple system once you know how to do it.

Resurrection of an old thread but same issue. Cut and hold ram not returning. Have taken off the blank ports but none are same size as the pipe fitting off the end of the ram to pressurise. Any ideas? This is an older manual model and online manuals I can find only show as above pictures/procedure which I think are newer models. Cheers
