McHale f550 baler

Any body know anything about these balers? Bought new one last year but having much luck with making good hard round bales. Iv screwed pressure up to 12 o clock mark on gauge. It’s just makes untidy looking bales which some are nearly 5ft rather than 4x4 what are a nightmare to wrap and stack and even worse in winter when you can’t get net off in time before the bale collapses. Swaths are pretty good too.

Bought new last year. Iv let her go into just into red on gauge but it’s doesnt make much difference ! Basically the more you turn the pressure up on the gauge the more pressure it’s transferred to the rams to keep back door shut right?

Copper washer in the density valve needs replacing I'd think?
Costs pence and takes less than 5 minutes to replace but buy 3+ as bet you damage first one when fitting if not lined up square and buy from a McHale dealer as plumbing ones don't last ( advise from McHale rep)

It shouldn't on a year old machine

Thanks for that I’ll definitely try this. Do you recommend maxing the pressure out? What your opinion on the hay, silage lever on side of the chamber? Some leave it in the silage place all the time when bailing hay Iv been told. Cheers

Easy miss for a young tech. Very likely wrong from new.
My mate bought a very low bale count McHale baler that was making horrendous soft bales and dealer he bought it off had replaced ram seals and some other bits and blaming tractor etc. 5 minutes and a copper washer and his baler performed as it should and the dealer had sold alot of McHale kit.
If not it may be a hairline crack in density valve block but very unlikely.

Only one setting to run a McHale baler "Max" and owned plenty of both stand alone balers and fusion's.
Leave the little handle alone as it's a crap idea as who wants soft hay as should only bale when it's fit

Is this the same for the balers and fusions? I have a friend with a f5500 and a Fusion and the fusion doesnt make bales as hard as f5500. Any chance of a photo of the location of this washer in the density valve?

I run ours nearly in red on the gauge
