Had one for 3 winters,

Only breakage has been the visual indicator for bed speed.

Good bit of kit both of them, similar in design and build quality. I wouldn't say there is much between them.

Whichever you get make sure they both have wide angle pto.
Mchale is standard, not sure about Kuhn.

I think it’s a must if you want to utilise the machine to its best.

Was in the same dilemma as what you are @Timbo . Bought a McHale in the end. Everything is standard on a McHale, whereas you got to tick all the option boxes for the Kuhn. What swung it for me was the number of knives as standard, and they are also angled compared to the straight ones on the kuhn. The feed rotor has an extra ring on it and if it blocks there is an access hole to reverse the flywheel. Also preferred the operating box inside the cab. The Mchale is a few inches lower in height which helps when reversing.
