meanwhile in Texas...

I worked in Texas a few years ago. Went there for harvest. It never crossed my mind people would be carrying guns.

One thing I did notice though was people were a lot more respectful to one another and less @r$eholes going about acting the big man. I'm referring to evenings out in bars, clubs, rodeos.

I'm guessing the threat of getting shot, made people think twice about being cheeky and giving people lip. Was a better atmosphere than local towns/cities in Scotland.
Aye nothing quite like a loaded firearm to re-align the ambitions & expectations of the talkers who should be listening

We have US friends, and when staying with them once, we asked them about gun ownership. She produced hollow point bullets, and when asked why, said it's better to kill an intruder than to wound them, then they can't sue you into oblivion. I think that says a lot about that country.
I would intend to agree...
We live in a relatively free and accepting society and if you work hard you can have one of the best standard of living in the world however if you decide you'd rather steal and murder people then I think it's only fair that you should expect to die for your actions.
You are free to say and do whatever you like but your not free from the consequence of those words and actions.

watch both versions for the more of the incident, neither charged yet, may go before a grand jury to decide charges. Not for sensitive viewers.
No human rights lawyers involved in this case ! just instant kama! think if he had just done a couple of shots been ok ,

Would have thought being in Texas the scroat would have guessed every man and his dog would have a shooter .....

It's also worth considering that the gunman could of been pretty easily tackled to the ground he's clearly not paying any attention just waving the gun round like he's on GTA or some stupid sh!t.

First few shots fully justified.
There was no need for 9.

Interesting legal discussion though; the guy was leaving the store having already got the cash/whatever he wanted to steal. You're shooting a guy in the back who is walking away from you. Is it still self defence? At what point does self defence become mere retribution?

Can totally understand the guy firing several shots in the first instance, he was in the heat of the moment and couldn't have known if any had hit the target. But shooting a guy sprawled on the floor and then walking up and deliberately shooting him in the head as well? I dunno. Interesting legal discussion to be had.

Tackle a guy waving a gun around? Good luck with that.

There's a video of his mum on YouTube saying how he was a good kid and how 'justice be served' on the man who shot him. Going on her sons track record, it's a wonder he hadn't got a 'nick in his ear' prior to the 9th shot...

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

If you want to wave a shooter around (in a place where most likely other people carry shooters, too) then the more you f**k around the more you find out.

This guy found out.

PS if you keep firing until all the rounds are used up then it is about as safe as a firearm can be, which may prevent an accidental discharge in the event of half a pint of adrenaline making you forgetful

She didn't did she? 🤦‍♂️
That's the last thing America needs is a eye for a eye attitude.
Or is this just the spread of the George Floyd criminals are now "victims" and deserve "justice"

In Texas the law allows use of force to RECOVER property, he doesn't even need to prove self defense according to the statutes. Very few, if any other US states are like this.

It's easy to sit here and watch and say the guy was headed for the door, he should have stopped shooting when he was down, but this happened in a blur to the people there.

The deceased was out on parole from a 15 year sentence from a robbery/murder of a cell phone store clerk in 2015, along with two others.

Not the sharpest tool in the box, what was he expecting??

He certainly didn't get far. Probably a good thing from a legal point of view that his final resting place was within the building rather than in the street?

I was expecting the customer to sit back down and continue with his dinner.

It's lucky there were no injuries from Rick O'Shea.

Not debating the morality of whether this is right or wrong.

Legally, in the UK, this is excessive use of force. This type of incident is why some (including soldiers in conflict zones) are arrested, tried and imprisoned.

If you genuinely feel threatened (and can justify why you feel threatened) you can strike first; but once a threat is no longer a threat, you have to stop. Even if the adrenaline is pumping.
That is what training is for....

Same as when soldiers are trained to fire in aimed short bursts. Although these days, the rifles are designed to do this anyway.

I was in college with a guy who had served in The Rhodesian Light Infantry, and he talked about double tap with his SLR, so putting two rounds out in quick succession.

Shooting the same target with an SLR twice is surely a waste of ammo. Wicked weapon. (y) Interestingly the US army is now playing with developmental weapons that head back to the much larger cartridge- 6.8x51 I think.
