I think they have hence the move to 'green energy' such as wind turbines, the move to electric cars and taxes on long haul flights in this day and age being the CEO of a oil company probably is n't going to make you Mr Popularity. Unfortunately farming is an easy target because it's spokespeople seem totally out of touch with real life. If you can't convince the public you are doing the right thing then you will have to change like it or not because they will not buy your products.
what will they eat?

...Pity she's calling a hen a chicken. Gran would have laughed and gently put her right.
She's a 'scientist', a major 'natural history' presenter on the BBC and she doesn't even know to call a hen a hen... :banghead: The hippy place at the end is over in Pembs, near Newport I think, and they live like medieval peasants, even at a lower standard than the nutters at Lammas.

I didn't see her making a successful argument against grass-fed livestock, and she won't be able to because there isn't one that stands up to examination.

All she's really done is make an effective case for the moral and green credentials of UK farmed meat. :)

They could have made a lot more out about how UK agriculture is better than someone in the US who produces 1 million beef cattle a year for example..
Just a couple of references to European or British farming being 'not like that' was all until you get to the good lifers in Wales....

Does the lovely presenter only eat sour lemons? - certainly looks like it.

Whilst it was irritating to watch as it was so one sided, and of course made no mention of the environmental impact on growing monoculture plant based food as an alternative, it could be used as as a perfect platform to promote the benefits of local, extensively produced meat. The chances of that happening? Probably zero.

Best bit of the program was when the man killed the chicken and stunned it first by hitting it on the back of head with a bit of wood wonder if the BBC brought it back from the amazon for him to save on air miles and utilities the wood cut down in the forest for cattle grazing !!
