I am reaching out to request permission to metal detect on land in Cardiff.
I understand that your land holds significant value and is a vital part of your livelihood as a farmer. I assure you that I will handle this privilege with the utmost respect and care.
The hobby is new to me so I'm just looking to gain experience.

I would like to assure you that I will adhere to a strict code of conduct during my metal detecting activities on your property. I will follow these guidelines:
  1. Respect for the land: I will ensure that there is minimal impact on the landscape and crops. I will not disturb any animals or crops while conducting metal detecting.
  2. Responsible digging: I will use the proper tools and techniques to avoid any damage to the soil or potential archaeological features.
  3. Leave no trace: I will take all trash and waste with me, leaving the area in the same condition as I found it.
  4. Reporting finds: If I discover any significant artefacts or items of historical importance, I will promptly report them to the local heritage authorities as required by law.
  5. Liability Assurance: I understand the concerns associated with granting permission, and I am willing to sign a liability waiver, assuming full responsibility for any accidents or damage that may occur while I am on your property.
I fully understand the importance of your land for farming, and I will ensure that my presence does not interfere with your operations in any way. If you have any specific areas or timeframes where metal detecting would be more convenient for you, I am more than willing to accommodate those preferences.
Before starting any metal detecting, I am also open to meeting in person to discuss your concerns and clarify any questions you may have regarding my intentions.
Thank you for considering my request.
