MF 1200 or 1250 artic tractor?

There used to be a smashing MF 1500 in use in Whitchurch, it had a V engine, Cat I think, looked really cool with the heads sticking out either side, that's the one to go for! A lot of the old 1200s were converted to sprayers or taken up to the woods. I have always fancied one, but the ones on eBay are usually pretty rough.

be nice to have about and big enough to actually do something with.
They dont go for big money then!
Heard of one up basingstoke way today think it was really tidy though.

Cousin borrowed one to use with a dump trailer, thought it seemed heavy and sluggish, no doubt it has good traction with all that weight at the front

Did they build them with dry brakes? I cannot recall ever seeing one without square axle with wet brakes. These axles were introduced on the 185 and 1200 around late 70, early 71, a year before the rest of the 100 range got wet brakes iirc.
When was the 1200 introduced and were there many [any] with the old 65/165/175 axles?

72 or 73,father drove one for years mainly ploughing with mf 4 furrow reversible 1979 model,all I can remember is it smoked a fair bit

If introduced in 72 it will have been fitted with the square axle and wet brakes from the start.

theman i bought mine from had 2 for sale, a turbo one with dry brakes he said, i never even looked at it, the one i boughtis r reg n definetly wet brakes

they are around 5.5 ton n around 110hp so what would you be able to use it for? i belive you say need 200 hp to turn hay

I am sure it would handle a haybob!!! or a single roller.
I never said i need 200 to turn hay i siad its what i have to use , most of the time i need 200 hp!!

It would only be a toy, not something to take center stage, well maybe at a local vintage show i know of LOL

I suppose a rough one would be ok if you had a mechanic and a decent workshop , he could sort ya toy out in his SPARE time!!!

The Case is mine and the 1505 belongs to a friend. Photo taken on a tractor run last weekend. Both are like me pensioned off and do tractor runs and demonstration days.

We had a Case 2670 for forerunner to your Case.

Was trialling vintage cars that weekend but was keen to take our Fiat 780dt on your run. Was a shame to miss it by all accounts.

PS DO not put your case on a pulling machine - IT WILL BLOW UP.

@Tonym, where was the tractor pulling? I recognise the trailer. No doubt you've come across a JD5020 on your travels.

The pulling was at the Brimfield working day last year and yes I know the 5920 you are talking about. I had the Case on an Opico swing plough on the working field and thought I would see how it performed on the sledge for a bit of fun.
