Mf 6465 lost drive

Well I've been and ordered a new carrier this afternoon. Not cheap but it's a lot of work getting it apart if we bodge it and it fails again. Put them on a stock order so getting some discount.

Exactly a lot of work and it’s gonna cost something to to weld it up and work it back.

No seals at all.its all sealed with loctite sealer.have you checked the bolts I would go round them all just incase might stop the leak

I wrongly assumed this section might be drive shafts etc hence failed seals, I never considered it’s oil filled will have a check on all the bolts, used to be just a smear of oil for years just developed into a drip

A little tip that will save a whole lot of money, not just for MF owners but all brands that have power shuttle and semi/full- powershift. If the tractor rattles when engine turned off and/or if the shifts have become rough with some banging or clunking noise, don’t hesitate, split it at the flywheel housing and change that damper unit before it shocks something in the gearbox and breaks something very expensive.

My NH8260 damper was changed at around 8000 hours as soon as I diagnosed the issue and before any consequential damage occurred. The damper coil springs were indeed shot with one broken and the others very loose indeed. Might even have had two of the radial coils broken.

How hard was it to push out pins and swap cogs over from old unit?

Easy we used the press but I think it barely read anything on the gage. They would come out with a good punch.you just have to be careful putting them back as you have to line up the oil ways in the pin

Back together still a lot of work before it's finished but it's getting there
