MF 7475 Dyna VT Trans Oil

Hello,

I have a 2008 MF 7475 due for its Dyna VT trans oil change. It is the first change since I purchased it. Looking for a few tips from the forum please.

My MF dealer said 15W-40 for the trans a while back, but at the dealership last week the parts department printed me the AGCO spec sheet indicating AGCO branded 10W-40 oil.

Today placed an order with our BP fuel depot for diesel and the owner had listed for the 7475 Castrol 20W-30, and didn't stock 10W-40 because its a Euro spec and not required in our warmer OZ climate.

Three different oil grades but I am particular as this is a CVT trans and I want to get it right. OK which grade of oil is best for this tractor, and what are other owners using?

Engine oil change is quoted at 400hrs, how often are owners changing this oil?

Tractor has 3800 hrs and has exceeded my expectations with the Dyna VT.

Get 2 cans of either morris super versitrac or jdf

I would give midland lubricants a call, they will tell you what oil to use and it will be cheaper than any main dealer.

I think the op is in Australia so UK suppliers may struggle on the delivery price!

That is what my dealer supplied me for my 7485 . It does both gearbox and hydraulics so saves me having 2 barrels .

Thanks, yes its a bit of a haul down here to OZ, but I did find two stockists of Morris Super Veristrac here in Victoria.

One more question I didn't ask, being a CVT is it straightforward enough for a farmer to change the oil and filters?

Thanks yes got the manual. Bought the machine used but bought a manual from my local dealer who sent me a manual with photocopied pages and the Dynastep US version of the DynaVT ?

If you’re happy and confident changing oil and filters on other tractors there should be nothing to worry on this.

As for oil there’s nothing particularly special about the oils needed in a 7400 series , ordinary utto should suffice, it does here in the uk, probably the same with you unless the heat would alter the recommendations

Edit if you google what oil, Morris oils they list which of their oils are suitable, I know Fuchs do something similar.

iirc you need a 22mm allen key to open the drain bung under the transmission(well you do on my 7480)
theres a suction strainer then under a cap with 3 bolts on the right hand side of the trans
also the high pressure filter in an aluminium housing
think the hp filter is 400hrs interval to change and the suction strainer is 2k hours same as oil but i might be wrong without looking it up
filters will cost more than the 50l of oil

Them aluminium filter housing can be a two man job or a grind your teeth moment and use the impact gun!! No matter how much you carefully tighten them just enough they will be a barstewart to take off next time!!

Dont use the impacter?‍
Change that with the trans warm, and if it's still tight use a strap wrench and tap it gently

So they use engine oil in the hydrostat?
I wonder why they don't just use regular hydraulic oil..

Yes nothing major special,
Cant use straight hydraulic as theres brakes and clutches in there

Most importantly just change it regularly

I’ve actually used impact on a lot of filter housings if they’re stubborn, obviously with a six sided socket. Other option is one person with socket and extension and tee bar from under the bellhousing with someone else from the back with a lump hammer knocking the bar at same time. It’s not really engine oil though is it but same viscosity as a popular engine oil 10/40. As said it needs the additives etc for wet brakes and clutches.

That is Super Versitrac in an MF overcoat.

Don't forget the big element behind the round flat side cover bolted to the side of the transmission. Be careful to seat it properly.
You don't get the cover's O ring seal with the filter, so order is separately. You probably won't need to use it but if you do, it is best that you have it available.

Sit down before you look at the invoice for all the filters necessary.

The final drives are separate and need 85W/140, like the Carraro front axles. Fill the rear drives to within 6cms of the top of the housing. There is no breather and early models suffered from the EP gear oil being forced by air pressure past the seals into the Vario unit housing.

There is also a 22 mm drain plug each side under the brakes to drain the oil from there separate compartment whilst your changing the transmission oil. It fills up from the transmission thought. They are not far from the 24 mm plugs for draining the rear final drives.

this is the oil i use here, mobilfluid 426,

i use it here across the board in transmissions, have a cvt here and its all she ever got as well.
its dearer than the standard run of the big brands but not a lot more really.
the specs are in that link above, youl find it hard to beat it tbh.

as for engine oil, i use Mobil delvac 15/40 mx, its a long drain oil but i still change it every 300 hrs on everything.

I dont know where the servicing intervals are going when it comes to manufacturers, they are pushing it further and further out all the time, sure they would say the oil has got more advanced and is fit for it but i don't know.
got a new mower here a few months ago and i see their recommending the first oil change after 50 hours cutting.
the mower it replaced had the same bed all be it an earlier model yet that book says to change it after 10 hours of cutting...
best of all they recommend the same oil for both.

car engine here that only needs an oil change at 10,000 miles, thats not good for any engine in my book.
