No, happily married bloke with two children, plenty of friends who wouldn't laugh at me saying lesbian when I meant Lexion anymore than saying "poo" or "Willy".

Its just not funny.
Each to their own I guess, don't think any offence was meant

20 acres of linseed to go before she completes her 25th harvest, fingers crossed....

I think the name Dominator gives the old girls sexual preferences away....

we have just done season 37 with ours, had a bit of a moment when the clevis pin come out of the 1st/reverse gear linkage when i was cutting into a field corner. Improvisation with a 6mm bolt saved the day. Apart from thats she been a total peach as usual (y)

They are Laverda's!
MF, Fendt, CAT and Laverda branded machines are all made in the same Italian factory. Only difference is the colour of the paintwork.
Reckon they would sell more in the UK if they marketed the Fendt ones here but they say brand dilution would be a concern.

I was pondering this the other day, and wondering who made the Fendt combines. Do they have a bad reputation in Germany? Or is there an old bias here against MF branded machines? Would have thought it was dangerous to the Fendt brand to toxify it with unreliable combines for the sake of painting a combine green? Does anyone know how they are viewed in Europe?

So in 37 years how many acres has it done ? Maybe as much as a big lexion etc does in 1 or 2 seasons ?

didnt the comparison ought to be hours worked ? great as a new combine is they like new tractors will not last like the simple old kit because of all the electrics, they will simply become unrepairable when the costs get too high or parts unattainable

first 10 years of its life it cut 200 acres a year for a chap in downahm market, then it came to another bloke who cut around 150 acres a year, he kept if for another 10 years before trading up to one with a cab, it passed to my dads mate who cut 50 acres a year with it till he became ill around 2001, it was then parked up till i bought it in 2004, since then its done or 75 acres every year, plus the odd bit of mopping up for the bloke i help out every year, its quicker for me to go cut some of his hard to get at fields, time he has got through the housing estate and got the header on for a 5 acre field its not really worth his time with a 35ft machine?

for £500 whats it owe me

a lot less than your claas???

and cheaper than getting a contractor who will always turn up (or not) at the wrong time

I don t think so. They will just move further east where labour is cheap and they will find ways of repairing them.

How long have people been saying this about these new electrical gadgets? "They don't build them like they used too"

I'm not knocking it just pointing out that its maybe no wonder these modern big machines get a bit of downtime / problems when they are being asked to cut what used to be maybe a lifetimes workload for machines in the past in just the first year or so

in 1977 200 acre was a fair size unit, so get your point

everything has growm in size since then, you could get everything through a 16ft gateway once upon a time

its a bit more difficult now with a 35ft header on a dolly trailer

just been talking to a lad at the grainstore, co-op farms at coldham had to have a new engine in one of thier lesbians over the bank holiday, £27,000 for a service exchange engine, £900 to hire a hiab to lift it it, plus bank holiday labour charges at usual rates

sod that!!!!!
Then the fault is either with merc or cat surely? Our 7 season old 570 has just cut 2000 acres without a breakdown, no fires, no engine failure..........

35ft header on dolly trailer will go in gateways a 25 ft on normal trailer won't, why don't you leave the 'fen' for a harvest or two and go and join one of the big units, see what large scale arable farming is all about! You've defiantly got a passion for kit and I'm sure you would have a great time, I spent ten years on a 6000 acre unit, good times, best kit money could buy, good team of lads only reason I left was the stupid hours we were expected to put in, but it's made the 2000 acre place I'm on now seem easy!

Depends on the opportunity cost of your time? How long does it take you to cut 75 acres with your machine?
