MF35 4 cylinder problems

Hi all. Just found this forum while googling my mf35 problem. It looks very interesting in general so I shall have a good mooch around the site once I have my tractor running.
So.. bought the tractor last month and played about on it for a few hours. Cold starting and not ticking over well so I took it in the barn for an injection system clean up and tune up with the hope that I can make it start easier.
All 4 injectors refurbed, new fuel filter, new big battery, new Ford starter motor to make it crank faster, fuel tank flushed out and new tap and glass bowl assembly.
The fuel is bled at the filter and at the injector pump bleed screws but nothing appearing at the injectors whether by the lift pump or by cranking the engine. Also there is a chuff chuff chuff noise while the engine is cranking...
Any help greatfully received.

@Pennine Ploughing and @REStracTORATION are the resident experts.

However from my understanding and experience of these engines, it, allong with most out there, will probably a bit worn and will require a full refurb to get them right, and getting the timing right is the key to a good starter.

You have probably spent a fair sum on it now getting the pump and injectors done, so your going to be reasonably far down the road to a full refurb, if its tidy and you plant to keep it, I would bite the bullet and get an entire overhall done now by someone who knows these engines inside out. You wont regret it in the long run

Welcome to the forum @EnglishMike

Yes as above, get the starter spinning the engine as fast as you can and plenty of diesel at the injectors, working heater and hope ..................

God loves a trier ........

I'm a little confused here, you've pumped the lift pump and got fuel to the injector pump,ok so far, nothing at the injectors, does this mean no fuel getting to the injectors at all, then you've either got the stop in the wrong position or the pump needs attention.

Re no fuel at injectors
Is the stop in?
Have you tried completely undoing the union on the high pressure line at the injectors?
Could the rack be stuck on the injector pump?

"Stopper sticking"

Ah yeah, they stick regular on the 4 cylinder tractors, you could do standup

Edit:
My mistake I misread the original post, sorry about that .......

Yes it does sound as though the blades my well be stuck in the injector pump, stopping it from building injection pressure.

So a light tap with a spanner (19mm) on the side of the pump wont do any harm.

Thanks guys, you have me smiling so far!! God lives a trier is the best description
I'm and Englishman sitting in 4 muddy acres in Northern Ireland and needed a machine to help me tend it as my poor 55 year old legs and arms are getting a bit tired. So I bought the best machine I could find for the money I had available. The restoration will come later as I need to use it as a tool right now, but all parts that need attention will be replaced by new or recon along the way.

I'm a life long petrol head and tinkerer - petrol head, not diesel head - so I've come upon a problem.
I drove the 35 into the barn and have not touched the injector pump at all. Injectors all removed and taken to the local diesel injector specialist - 2 old boys with a good array of injection testing machinery, Gary Wishart in Ballymena and he did all 4 for £18 each and sold me new washers too. He turned them round in 48 hours and they look brand new!!
I will try and get some kind of stethoscope rigged up to track the chuffing noise tomorrow.

Well that might be a better idea than you think
3 would be plenty ..........

Fully understand, as long as it does what you want.
Tap the roundy bit of the pump .........
And double check you have full diesel on both little bleeders on the pump (8mm well the imperial equivalent, maybe 5/16) and then again UP at each injector.
Be careful with the high pressure diesel from the injector lines, deadly on the skin, so stay well clear when cranking/bleeding.
