Milk Price Tracker

Absolutely been doing it all my life.

What I am also very aware of is the present climate of daily price increases on inputs.

You can only adapt so much to those.
Agreed. My very poorly worded post should have read. Be aware of investments that either rely o a very high milk price to cover their ongoing use or or large repayments. Cash flow will be everything on the other side of this inflation peak.

cows at Exeter, looked dear today, seemed to get dearer, as the sale went on, the word from Arla spread around perhaps
They was good trade but still think they are good buy really, I went sedge on Thursday the best there was the same today, thought in calf heifers was stronger,. Plus seems to be bigger different between the best and run of mill imo

Yes I thought that tbf didn't see the whole sale, cows keep coming at the moment
all we are doing, is swopping some old dears out, and replacing with younger ones, i/c. Cannot see the difference in cull and milkers, being so close again. Got 1 7th, 3/4 cow, will replace a young one today, in calf for early nov, rather than late, like the one above ! can't be bad, can it ?
You sit quietly out the way, pick and choose, you can pick up some nice cows, reasonable. Just need to be at all the sales, or have someone there.

This a serious reply?
At 6p off and constantly a month behind playing catch up yes.
Round us any land to rent or buy, cows that make good money all go to Arla farmers, fair play as the statement says Arla are investing in their farmers.
But no one else can compete out there.
We just get the usual "cut costs and make better forage" advise off other processors.

That's what we are doing, are culls are normally fairly well fleshed when go so coming good money really, 1300 1400 give or take add 1k and bit and you got something decent to go on with.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
