How are you viewing the coming season with cake prices as they look going forward? Once a day be more attractive or less so ?If feed prices rise but milk price stay stagnant will we see less marginal litres being produced and volumes reduce this coming year?
I agree with you here, more traditional grazing herds will have to rely on less cake and more grass this springIf feed prices rise but milk price stay stagnant will we see less marginal litres being produced and volumes reduce this coming year?

Not grilling you but does that account for extra litres but lower constituents on TAD?My thoughts are the less conc you feed the less exposed to price rises you are. Just did a quick calculation and a £100/ton increase in feed price will cost me 1.5ppl on my oad system where as if I was still tad it would cost me 2.2ppl. That was a quick fag packet maths so dont grill me on it but I think in general its right.

Very interesting, thanks for the replyIts fag packet calculations. TAD more litres but feed twice as much conc and lower solids so lower milk price = lower margin over purchased feed than OAD. OAD less litres sold than TAD but at a higher margin. Net result is similar overall profits but OAD is kinder on me.
What I was getting at was if milk price stays the same but feed price increases I think oad will potentially be more profitable (for me anyway).
Another survey last week to back up previous data that butter is actually good for you.Big jump in Butter and Butter fat.
It would be interesting to see the break down of the proportions of product sold. Given that some of the gains were quite large and only one product was actually down its surprising the weighted avg wasn’t up more.
