Various milk processors have announced increases in their milk prices for the month of June.

Meadow Foods have announced an increase of 1.25p/L to increase the milk price to 28.25p/L.

Mark Chantler of Meadow Foods said: “We promised that as soon as we were able to achieve better prices, we would pass the benefit back to our producers and we are pleased to do that.

This increase reflects a more positive market for the dairy products we sell, and lower than anticipated milk volumes.

“We continue to closely monitor the markets closely and remain conscious that there is the main spring flush to come.”

First Milk also confirmed its milk price will increase by 0.5p/L from June 1.

This means that its milk price will increase to 29.93p/L, including the member premium.

Robert Craig, director and vice chairman, contributes the increase to improvements in markets returns, as well as:

The benefits of our continued capital investment in driving efficiency and productivity at our processing sites.”

Muller has also announced an increase of 1p/L, bringing their milk price for June up to 28.25p/L.

Rob Hutchison, Muller Milk and Ingredients chief operating officer, said:

“Markets remain strong at present and if this is sustained, we hope to build on this increase in the months ahead, as we continually monitor supply and demand.”
