Mowing

Sorry for the dumb question but never mowed before and been thrown in the deep end this morning due to an illness. So I've hitched up the krone mower with the link arms set dead level and they remain level when the mower is folded up but when I put the mower into work position the right hand link arm is about 2 inches lower than the left meaning the frame of the mower isn't level either. Is this how it's supposed to be? Doesn't look right to me

We normally turn the right-hand drop arm up a couple of turns so the mower is level when you lift it,otherwise it can catch the swath when you lift out at the end to turn

In work the suspension system on the mower, by springs, accumulator etc, takes weight off the bed and transfers it to the tractor linkage... so pressing down on the right side lift arm and pushing up on the left...hence the slack in the joints show up as you witness

Firstly some mowers have a transport position. Is there a lever which is to be moved when in work?
Secondly, try to get the PTO straight as possible with the mower cutting just outside the back wheel with the mower into work position. Lift it a few times while adjusting one arm until it is lowering evenly onto the ground. Best done in the yard.
Thirdly cut 20m then have a look to check the cut height and adjust top link as needed. Also check how much overlap with the back wheel once round the field.
Here endeth the lesson.

Run your left arm somewhere like 4 or 7 turn longer than your right . Probably need to have your mower pushed a bit to the right on the stabilisers as well so you're straddling the swath and cutting full width this won't be needed if the mower is less than 3m tho.
