Cheap at harvest dear in winter the old saying goes .Trade seems to be a lot cheaper than last year. Your probably seeing a lot of balers running around because people have literally 1 day to bale it before the next lot of rain.

But no one appears to want to buy em, my own baler and chaser is for sale but not selling. I’ve ended up using both but very limitedly, so far I’ve chased 240 mini Hesstons for someone and baled 66 quads for someone else !. There’s straw on the deck everywhere round here and hardly a baler in sight !.
And they say there’s money in straw ! Pfffffff.
Still trying this year some? There must be. Local farmer to me had his wife trying to sell them for £40 a round bale last winter.
What chaser you selling?
Dry straw could certainly be at a premium. There can't be that much wheat straw baled dry so far. Even round here where the rain has been nothing as bad as elsewhere its been hard work getting straw baled. The good news is that there are predictions for an improvement in the weather from the middle of next week onwards and into early September, so do not despair just yet!

Not if you can get it dried back out. And some has had a lot of rain on it now, laid for 3 weeks or more round these parts. And I know there is going to be a lot of bad barley bales up here, that was either 'dried out' or baled behind the combines. Is straw that has had a sniff of rain on it all that bad? Or straw that has been baled immediately behind the combine?
