My chainsaw caused a BT line fault

Trimming a big tree in the garden ,I caught the neighbours telephone wire.
I now need to report a fault, does anyone know how. The neighbour is elderly and needs the phone.
Tried phoning bt but the system is useless.

Are they on a red care line as need to contact their care line also?
Pendant or call button system?
Number Possibly on box by their phone if got one possibly too?

Google openreach, and go through their line faults process. I had a wire down on Sunday evening at about 6pm, within the hour a team arrived and put a temporary repair in, and it was fixed properly today, excellent service.

I suggest you report that it has been damaged by "someone".
And hide the neighbour in a laundry basket whilst engineers are there, to keep him/her quiet.

or get them a cheap payg mobile with some credit on for the duration.

bt should be ok about it because it happens.

just think yerself lucky it werent on a friday eve and it took a a junction box chewed half way through the pole and rendered 14 housholds without internet till about next tuesday

Good luck getting openreach to do anything. Been without a landline for a week now and best estimate is it'll be another week before it's fixed.
