I was going to say that it looks mighty like the flower of bindweed, but I've never seen bindweed take over an entire area.

Couple of places where I have it in the woodland but it always wants to go up rather than out.

Nasty thing as it can climb and choke a young tree in a few weeks of strong growth at this time of year if you're not watching for it.

Presumably this is some iteration of it more open space orientated?

What strange land , water logged in winter , now it's as dry as cork. Did some test holes yesterday , dry 5 ft down
