I found the guy at stoneacre York to be decent, but my old ranger wasnt traded it went on eBay so there was little haggling to do.

Nfu discount, ford promotion and dealer incentive took most of the haggling margin away.

Biggest choice was ford price at 0% interest with deposit or nfu discount but pay for finance. Deposit optional

The ford 2.0 engine is UK produced then shipped to south africa so I guess that makes ford the mildly patriotic choice.

The owner of a new toyota ,recently borrowed my ford ,he came back and wanted to swap . Then we worked out my ford cost over 6k less than his toyota. Covid discount made most of the difference I guess

Do Ford still do the 3.2? I looked at the website and couldn't see any. Probably the only three litre would be what's left of the Amarok.

Ford are / were running out the last of the 3.2's pre-covid shutdown, but only on certain models, and if you wanted an auto it has to be the old 6 speed, not the new 10.

Neighbour has just purchased a Raptor. He's very impressed with it, and if I'm honest so am I.
It's great to see Ford having the sense of humour to design something so different; it harks back to the days of them building the GT40, Sierra RS500, Escort Cosworth etc; a bit of a wild streak in a 'shirt and tie' corporation.

As to where to buy a new Ranger, I joined the Atlas Fram (as it was then) buying group, as they were offering a really good fleet discount. The saving over the nearest quote, after deducting the membership and train ticket to Ipswich to pick it up, was £2000.
A long drive home, but still a decent days work 😉
I'm sure there will still be 'fleet deals' available now. @derek, are you a member of a buying group or a machinery ring?

Edit: have you asked about a BASC membership discount, or the NFU?

I wonder whether they will ship the 2.0 out from the UK for long? Ford have an engine plant at Struandale in S Africa that makes the same engines as Ford used to make in the UK, namely the 2.2 and 3.2 diesels. Presumably they will also manufacture the 2.0 diesels out there after production of the old engines ceases. They may well already be building the engine in their Port Elizabeth Struandale facility, which is a fair distance from the Silverton assembly plant by the way.
I do hope that their wet belt 2.0 engine is a long term success.

From what I got told by a 'mate' of mine if price is your thing and you've got nfu discount buy a Toyota. Reckoned he got nfu discount, dealer discount, 0% finance and got to tell them what he was paying apparently. Oh and it'll do 35mpg towing! I didn't get the same luxury off Ford, only got the 0% finance and dealer discount (not a nfu member anyway).

Why complain about not getting NFU discount on your Ford when you are not an NFU member anyhow so would not qualify for any brand, including Toyota? :scratchhead:

I tried that but was told facelift and waiting list means you won't get it before New Year. Might be because I wanted a single cab.
