New Truck

Bit touchy Derrick.
I did say it comes down to personal choice. You were implying that you needed a 4x4 to get to farms. Funny how the postman manages in a van, and most people in the country drive normal family cars all around the country.
As for being constructive , I mentioned what a very good SUV the Honda CR-V is. Well priced and reliable with good mpg and comfortable. But probably not the correct badge for you:whistle:
I have a crv 2.2i-dtec 180hp goes like stink ex model so fully loaded panaramic roof sat nav camera adaptive cruise and will do 51mpg the only thing they dont do is hold their value with is annoying but a massive boot back seats are fully adjustable etc i really like it its just clicked 80k it should of been changed bit im attached to it for some reason because its is ultra reliable and i mean never had a issue what so ever

Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV - very nice as a passenger. The owners last 3 vehicles were Range Rovers - thought the Outlander was streets ahead in terms of running costs and spec

If going for Q5 make sure it's the 3.0 v6
We pay approx £700 per month for our disco 4's on 40k per year contract hire. These are commercial but a car version £800 per year.
Personally I'd buy and sell every year

We've got the same model. bought it as ex demonstrator at 6 months old with a good discount and 5 yr service plan . Don't do a lot of miles these days, so it's on less than 30k on a 2014 plate. Hopefully last us a good few years.

Can't fault my CRV iDTEC 2.2

But in stock form they are nearer 150bhp I thought

Mine has done 65k

I drive like a nun and my average tank to tank on a phone app over 65k is measured at 43mpg whereas the computer is way out at 49mpg

Yes stock 150
Remap 180

Mine gets upto 60s to the gallon
But 50s the average if i drive normal bout late 40s if i hoof it late 30s early 40s
The chip does help with fuel eecomomy
On a long run down to cornwall it holds 60 quid in the tank and will easily do 5-600miles on that im happy with it

If you want something that's cheaper to run forget 4x4 and get a Passat Estate. Ours will do 40 mpg locally and 50 mpg on a run.
You can get a Passat estate 4x4 or the new Tiguan is a great car to drive with the DSG seven speed dual clutch automatic. Plenty of room inside too. Huge stock at Sinclair Cardiff.

Buy a Ranger and a Ford Fiesta Sport van. Keep the Ranger for rolling in to Carmarthen and towing and the odd time you fear getting stuck in the snow and enjoy nearly 3 times mpg and a nippier ride for the other 85% of your miles

If you turn up in the Fiesta van , your customers may feel your margins are lower than they were

Win win :)
I've been looking forward to a new long term car, probably the last big car I'll need or have. Looking at Jaguar F-Pace and Discovery5, which I favour because they are British built, or a Volvo v90 Cross Country or xc90.
Trouble is, by the time they are specked up, they all cost between 50 and 55k.

For that money I could also buy a Ford Ranger Limited automatic for the towing, AND a British built high spec Honda CRV 9 speed automatic or Discovery Sport with the same gearbox. Two for the price of one and more tax efficient to boot.

I have the same model but factory horsepower is 150. It goes very well indeed though with good torque, better to drive than the figures suggest.
Mine has done 50mpg on a long journey. Once. Normally it averages 42 to 45mpg. Over the last 500 miles it has averaged 45, but it is almost always between 42 and 45.
The new more powerful twin turbo 1.6 diesel is apparently some 5 to 7 mpg better.

Depreciation is average for the class. About half new value at three years and 50,000 miles assuming good tyres and condition.

I'm far happier with this CRV than I ever was with the Audi Q7. The only thing I miss is the automatic transmission. Apart from that and the lack of seven seats, which I no longer need, the Honda is higher specified and just as nice to drive and gets me there just as quickly for £20k less cost to buy, far less road tax, a third of the cost in tyres and a third less fuel. Just as roomy for five people too.

May buy another one next year as this one will be getting on for 60k miles by then. Totally trouble free and total service cost to just before its 62,000 mile service will have been £300 plus front pads, one wiper and tyres every 25,000 miles [so two sets purchased] changed well before legal limit.
Audi tyres were more expensive and were down to the limit every 12000 miles plus the dealer always tried to scalp me on repairs and service
