Just read in the Western Daily Press that the NFU says " we will keep fighting against No Deal " .... I'm just wondering have the membership been polled on this issue ? I can't remember seeing a letter asking my views. Any thoughts ( it's not about for or against it's about an issue that the NFU are fighting ,which just might be against the belief of members)

It's a difficult one there will probably be losers & gainers in Ag just like the whole economy, the NFU meetings I've been to it's been 50/50 in the room for & against.
Perhaps the NFU should be sitting on the fence but saying in the event of no deal we want imports to be to the same standards as what is produced here.

What was the main reason farmers wanted to leave their main market?
Do you mean the 70 million on this lump of dirt surrounded by water we live on , who are so desperate to support British if social media is anything to go by ,who go to Tesco and the labeling is so confusing then cant tell half the time if they are buying British or not , the worst part of that is no one seems to care in the farming world

Im a British farmer and I don't even buy British sometimes. Have you seen the quality of baking potatoes that British farmers have been happy to put their names to this year? Do you buy British lorries , tractors, clothing? What makes farmers special? You can't have an export market and then refuse to have an import market. Honestly, the way some people talk it's like globalism has been a negative for farming

Does the government believe the NFU speaks for all uk farmers or does it realise it doesnt? NFU fighting against no deal in the interest of uk farming is as bad as the MP's frustrating brexit because they believe they can ignore democracy. NFU should be gearing up for the biggest challenge of its life which is advising government as to what tariffs should be to keep uk farmers competitive.

At least the foreign kit we buy is labelled correctly and not mixed in with better kit and painted/packaged to look like it. If whole shopping aisle's were set aside for different country of origin food i think people would buy british more often

The NFU staff member who looks after Brexit happens, through a family connection, to be a trustee of a large estate whose BPS payment is about £700k plus benefits from BPS inflated rents.
I’m not suggesting in any way that he benefits financially from this but it must inform his opinion.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
