about 5 inches and still falling….

good covering here now but council haven't told us to plough yet - budget cuts I guess !

No sign of snow here yet and I've never seen so much salt on the road.
Apparently there won't be enough staff to cover around the clock gritting due to strike action so they must be piling a day's worth of salt on in one pass.

Same here usually, quite often see piles of salt slung about when it's 4 degrees in April even. Never shy with it certainly on the main roads.

Gave up doing it years ago as never get paid, and when they did they questioned everything so resigned from it. I do my drive so some neighbours can get out if needed but that's it. Light the fire and chill out.

I bought a lovely 4'6" high Cuthbertson V plough a few years ago. It was being sold for £800 even though it had never been used, and I could only assume that the council was getting rid of it as it had reached 5 years old and had reached the end of their machinery policy terms.

And Henery, with out a word of a lie, I had to travel to Shropshire to pick it up (a family run truck garage in an old colliery building, the name escapes me).

3" out on the lawn, traffic has kept roads clear so far, but it's coming down heavier now .

There must have been some residual heat on the tarmac drive, it's barely gone white yet,but it's settling now.

No gritters seen, but it's usually 5.30 to 6.30 in the evening before they come out.

I stand corrected Mrs N tells me they were out at 12.30.

My mate got called to go with his plough to Derby hospital overspill car park for 6 o’clock last night and stay on site til 10 this morning, no snow but was on £50/hr, £800 for doing nothing! 😎
Nothing worse than sitting around doing nothing, but guess he may have had phone or tablet to watch movies

My cousin has the contract for clearing the Amazon loading centre in Dudley, and the car parks at the merry hill.
When they call for him he makes an absolute fortune.
I think it’s about 4x that hourly rate for Amazon
