its badly thought out regulations, that are difficult to police, that can be circumnavigated. ultimately it is the supplier of the steel structure that is breaking the law if they supply a frame that is not CE, You can, however, employ a welder to weld your steel into a frame for use on your farm. I think.

I don't think you can employ a welder to weld it on your farm, I think you have to weld it yourself on your farm.

You might well be correct , no doubt in the minds of the great and good that make up these rules, they are able to justify the logic of allowing an un qualified farmer welder to construct a building, but stop him from employing a qualified welder.

As long as the welding is of good quality, the steel is heavy enough, you put the bracings in, uprights are bolted to good pads or concreted in deep etc. etc. As @multi power said above, You'll have a shed. First little shed we built on our own in 1979 is still there.

erecting a frame onsite is rather different to welding your own frame together onsiteIf you build it onsite it doesn't need CE.

As everyone else has said, crash on get it made
You can employ a welder to weld it, you give him the drawings ect to work to and that's fine, ce marking only counts for selling a product, because your welder is selling a service it doesn't count

Do you think a farmer can employ a fabricator to weld the frame together at the fabricators premisises?

Why can't the fabricator just bill them for welding services? And send them a separate bill for steel?

I'm only guessing so don't quote me, but the way I look at it, selling steel is legal, and providing a welding service is legal so.....
