@The Agrarian ,you're a great DF man so you'll know the answer,if you are a new entrant ,so produced nothing last year,do you get the extra 3ppl for all milk produced this year? I think it's called production bonus. What if you shifted from another buyer last year?

Leaving all politics out of it, if the back stop kicks in do we in ni continue to get the sfp
The backstop is related to the customs union and single market access to prevent a hard border in Ireland . The SFP is part of the Common Agricultural Policy which we leave when we leave the EU on 29/3/19. After that agricultural support will be paid by the UK government.

All this talk of a price drop, has came as a surprise. If men aren't paying attention they'll not have spent thier spare money in time before the next crash.....

Spend away, couple of new tractors out of McElderrys, new pick up out of WRK and borrow 500k for a new dairy unit from Cormac, and then complain when production goes up, price drops and you can't make the repayments? No need to worry, we'll get a wee hardship payment from the EU.........

Loss of sfp.
Weak pound driving up costs
Exports facing possibility of tariffs
Whitehall in charge of agriculture with no input from governments which are pro farming?

What’s in this for us again?

Bate your milk out of grass cheaply you’ll take no hurt . Haven’t listened to brexit talk . Waste of time.
Grazed grass and some meal , zerograzed grass at night is our summer recipe problem is grass is only as good as the weather and a return to monsoon summers tends to negate the hoped for savings in meal.
Still no harm in looking south to moorepark for grass and grazing advice but unfortunately most of us dont have the same free draining sandy soils or slightly dryer climate.
