Trying to make a start sowing here. The heavy bits aren't good. In an empty sower. It's been hard to know the last couple of weeks if it's going to get washed away in one of those torrential showers. Was a grand day here until the heavens opened at half five.

Red tractor inspection today so thought I'd treat the old girl. Has been a while since it was as clean so might be a few suspicious cows to collect in the morning!!

Jesus wept! Wouldn't even think about it here until we at least had a good drying 24hrs to let ground soak. By forecast at dinner time there'll be nothing done this week.

Funny I can travel no problem, didn’t find a wet spot today. Only mowed 20 acres in case I got it wrong. Sun is shining her the whole afternoon. Got it all kicked out and it’s dried out lovely.

That's one thing we always struggle with is keeping the barn side of the robots clean, we volume wash twice a day but still they get plenty of shite on them, one of the downsides of been in operation 24hrs a day I suppose

Dad would wash the stallwork more than me, usually after I get 'the parlour was always kept cleaner when I was in charge' speech .

What's the feeling about the future for NI dairy sector if we have a no deal brexit and fall back to trading on WTO terms?
The feeling is I will be retiring 10 years earlier than planned, farming for the fun of it gets tiring, tanker driver tells me any milk returning over the border from manufacturing will have no tariff in either direction
So let's hope we like smp alot

Awkward one that. It's easy to assume it will be milk on the first crossing, but what about after that? The EU have said they will put on tariffs. It they do, there'll be a massive pressure on our government to reciprocate.

Wee out farm if you have a million plus
Stick in 120 cows,2 bots,loadsa money
No deal can only out land values down, which bank would lend that sort of cash

No point piddling about with 130 acre, but youself a proper out farm. Sheds and dwelling house already there, 250 cows, 4 robots, farm manager in the house, job done.
Even got your own beach for those hot summer evenings.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
