Slippery slope. If grazing is actively promoted, does that not be an admission that housing cows is less than ideal, or even bad/cruel? Hardly smart considering we have such long winters?

Have half a dozen little bullocks running in and out of a beef house to adjacent stack garden, which has no grass left on it. Silage available in the house. Not only were they happy to come in for food, they choose to spend most of last week lying inside on concrete slats, or on the concrete yard beside the shed, rather than on the field. No one told them the bit about the 'welfare' bonus. 🤔 Honestly, cattle would let you down a bagful.

As a producer you will not be receiving a bonus. The buyer may call it a bonus but it will be taken off somewhere else.
I used to get a bonus for AA beef at Dunbia. Thought it compensated for poorer grades and slow growth. 28p/kg. Discovered a big producer (40 head/week) was receiving same price for non AA. It did put me on the same price as Mr Big but the factory could afford to pay it. Also made me realize the small farmer price for non AA beef subsidized Mr Big price.
What does Z talk about.. smoke and mirrors?
