Bloody southerners!

To be fair I think that every time I read the Irish farmers journal, about the TAMS scheme and how well ag you are being supported. Seems every man milking over 50 cows has a new yard with a 20point parlour.

Our boys have been announcing a new tier 2 scheme, but even the announcement info suggests it'll be more than difficult to work with. Anyone thinking on it?

As you say even the information is vague and almost impossible to find what you are after, as for the application process, usually it's better to do these things without the 'grant' as the extra is added on!

Dept man told my tanker driver that they daera, are putting a push on next year toward dairy grazing systems and a bonus for grazing cows milk. This will include Grant's for fencing, lanes and drinking facilities. 1 in 7 dairy farmers is a true grazing farmer

Will be interesting to see the dept pay a bonus for grazing... Let me guess, they expect someone else to pay for it. Meanwhile the dairies prefer to pay a premium for winter milk. Some things don't seem to change. From my father began farming in earnest back in the mid fifties, the dept have often been on another wavelength from the real world.

It won't be the dept driving it, it won't be the processors driving it, if anyone's driving it, it will be the supermarkets. Just like Red Tractor. Dale Farms rebrand now highlights the grassfed element of our memberships milk, maybe they made a rod for their own back with that one??

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
