What's that?

A touchy subject to some.....basically put....its thinking that owning a 1690 turbo or a 1694 means you own something rare and worth twice as much as a standard 1690 or 1594

given the differences between the two amount to an oil cooler, turbo, smaller exhaust and the older style front axle....it doesnt make them worth twice as much in most peoples eyes.

A turbo should hardly double the price of something imo

Well those who own them think that because they only made less than a 1000 of them over the entire production run, they are worth a fortune.

Contrast to a DB 50d, they made just over a thousand of those, however, they are a sought after machine, and often make north of 25k each, more if you find a genuine UK tractor, as most were exported when new

With the 16s..its all about being able to tell all your other DB friends....i own a turbo

Would you take a 1694 over a 1594?

No, because we have a 1594 which is already more powerful than an ex-works 1694 anyway. Its also shod on 1694 spec wheels and tyres to help get the power down

108hp in the 16 vs the 115hp we read off the dyno when the 1594 was tested.

16s tend to be valued at 2-3k more than the equivalent 15, regardless of conditon

its a lot of money for a turbo, oil cooler and a "turbo" sticker on the side on the bonnet

And the 16 is less manouverable, having the old style AE3 axle as used on larger MFs of the time, in contrast to the 709 axle, used on 15s, 7810s and 5100s

If I bought it would he throw in the wee pedal car in the last picture
First man round here with over the hedge booms on tankers had 3 of those 2 on road tankers and one on Terra tyres in the field
You'd have thought they were Fords the amount of reek they blew :ROFLMAO:;)

They do throw a bit of coal in the air when you give the injection pump a tickle with the right tools

Okay it's a bit over priced (but I'm sure he would negotiate if he really wants to sell it) but it's still clean tidy and not molestated and rather more collectable than a more common and tarted up model. Anyway if you can afford it and it makes you happy that's all that matters

@John 1594 Is there more to it than what you mention though? Many turbo engines have extra oil spray on the underside of the pistons (i think that's the correct term) and did the figment of the AE3 axle give it a higher load rating meaning a 1694 had a higher chassis rating?

I know a lot of these differences seem like splitting hairs but it adds to the overall package so to speak.

edit i've just looked at the advert................and the price:eek::eek:

Any brown I've seen has been quite reeky. Digger man da worked for in the 80s had a 1694, a muirhill 121 and a Ford 5000 on 12 ton dumptrailers, he had a spare 12 ton dump trailer so hired a 4wd 70hp zetor and it outpulled the rest

We used to have a 1690. wasn't a turbo version though. It was a while ago but i don't remember it been particularly smokey. In fact i don't think we have ever really had a tractor that smoked a lot. Yes the 7610 did if it was getting some welly but it wasn't as bad as a lot i've seen. And certainly no worse than the renault temis 630 that replaced it.

The 1594 was 95hp as standard wasn't it? So i assume yours has been tweaked a bit to produce 115hp?

Working on that principle would it be feasible to open a 1694 up to 130hp?
