I’m running comb through the spring wheat. Mulika 75kg/ac couple of weeks ago.
8mm tunes as that’s all I’ve got. Any suggestions on whether worth it etc? Doing 11-13kph and seems to be a good job. Photo from the best bit of fields! Not sure why they’ve turned?!?

Best advice is not to look round! I used to do ours and frightened myself thinking I had ripped half of it out, but it was fine after a week or two.

Spoke to our agronomist shortly after picture and he suggested wait 48hr till the post rain weed flush has germinated then weed it. I’ll try that with the rest along with some strips not weeded to give a reference.
I just do every 5-6 days on barley and oats when I’ve got time, when I havnt got time, every 7 days. Lifted grain yields over 0.7t/acre (3 year average) plus doubled straw yield and the crops are almost as clean as most conventional crops. Charlock is my main problem still though.

I found that once I’d started I had to keep going back as more and more weeds chitted. But as dad used to say, “if it wasn’t for weed seed we would below sea level here.”
I don’t bother now. The six metre weeder is at the back of the shed and tends to stay there only coming out to rake at right angles to the combine to spread chaff and chopped straw if I fancy some direct drilling.
