Good one, I have tried Harvest yield and then field margins, both want money now.
not really a paddock app.
i want one for dividing up for mob grazing
every year my mob changes so does paddock size
just loaded up with wire stakes and fencer, so at the moment pace the field divide in my head then pace again.
looking forward to a good app ?

It's a layout issue rather than a measuring issue. As the land parcels are irregular shapes the problem is figuring the layout of 34 0.5 acre paddocks in a 17 acre parcel. I know they'll fit but it's nowhere near a reasonable shape to begin with.

Another vote for Field Area Measure. You can pay to upgrade, but the free app works fine for me. Having said that I've been doing a lot of measuring for paddocks recently on google earth on my laptop.

@JohnGalway on a side note, are you the same John currently doing the online HPG on sunday nights, or have I got the wrong John?

sign in to google
go to google maps -> menu, top right
then your places, 11th in the list
then the maps tab in the right hand menu
then create map at the bottom left
then choose satellite base map
then draw a line button (add a line or shape) not the measure distance button
draw a paddock, see if its about 0.5 acre, then add another ect, you can edit them to adjust shapes/sizes

thats how i did mine, took a little while,
then i loaded the map on to my phone, and used my phones gps to show me roughly where to put the stakes in the field

Weve been using the measuremapp app this year to measure our paddocks on the first round. Seems to work well,- handy with the GPS marker that tells you whereabouts you are in the field. Ability to send the marked paddock to staff over the phone has been good. Is that similar to Fields Area Measure?
