Have DD clover into predominately ryegrass pastures with reasonable success but has anyone tried DD herbal mixes?
yes has worked well but you need to be able to see soil, then some slurry after drilling helps

Easily done.Accidentally sprayed mine out
Glyphosate doesn't do much to creeping thistle anyway.Easily done.
Mine is full of creeping thistle. It had 2 litres of glyphosate in mid Feb which was obviously too early for them. It's supposed to have spring oats in it but they are still in the bag.
Need to discuss options with the agronomy department.
I put shield on mine for similar reasons even at low rates it wiped it outEasily done.

What about the clover?I put shield on mine for similar reasons even at low rates it wiped it out
You always have to spoil itWas anyone involved with the innovative farmers trials? The conclusions seemed to be yield based (30% reduction compared to the control), rather than margin. That said, in organic there will be more of a correlation, given there aren't any synthetic inputs.
Also increase in perennial weeds and grass weeds.
Just come out I think, hence asking. Not all bad though! Bit of a shame as I've been trying for years to get it to work! You always have to spoil it
deadersWhat about the clover?
On seed and pricing, the quantities are so small that Its easier to blend it yourself. Jura is another small, low white clover. How are people getting on with their understories a few years down the line since this thread was started?
I'm wanting to have a go myself, I’ve got various quotes for small white clover seed or some blends, what are you finding it working well?
Tempted to try keep it as cheap as possible to start with. I’ve got quotes for Rivendell or Aberace, the latter being 25% more expensive (£10/kg vs £12.50ish) Is an Aber variety worth the premium?
Blends of small white clover and yellow trefoil come in around £14-15 would the trefoil add value to the mix or am I just paying for someone to do the blending?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Broadcast and roll if soil is not friable.I ordered the Rivendell in the end, just need to decide whether to drill it with the sabre tine or broadcast it off the straw rake once the wheat is off now
Is the triple disc needed for mechanically destroying the clover where the seedlings will emerge? This is very old idea.
Many use to use white or flat type clo ers in crops to stop splashes of dirt getting on the plant this refucing disease.
There are many varieties that will persist in soil if allowed to set seed one year.
Balansa is good, black seed Antas, straewberry, aalso good, both you can smoke a paddock for 4 years with chem and it will come back.
For interrow seeding, let clover establish, chem retard or graze to the boards, seed in cereal with triple disc. Must use wave coulter upfront for establishment, i.e great plains.
